The Japanese Association for Digital Humanities is pleased to announce its third annual conference, to be held at Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto, Japan, September 19-21, 2013.

Our dearest friend Lisa Lena Opas-Hänninen loved Japan. She loved paying visits to Japan. This was an extremely fortunate fact for DH scholars in this part of the globe. Without Lisa Lena's presence, her ardent advocacy, and her warm friendship, the Japanese Association for Digital Humanities could not have been established in its present form. She led us along, helped us in many ways, and of course she enchanted us immensely with her beloved personality.

デジタル技術を活用した人文学研究に携わっている日本の研究者のみなさまへ

日本にはデジタル技術を人文学に応用することを目指す様々な重要な研究活動が展開されています。一方で、国際的には、そのような動向はDigital Humanities(DH)と名付けられ、一つの大きな潮流を形成しつつあります。しかしながら、これまで、日本におけるそうした研究活動は、その意義や重要性にも関わらず、国際学会に繋がっていないために、一部を除いてその存在が国際的には十分に知られておらず、いささか残念な状況にあります。この状況を改善するための最も有効な方法の一つは、DH国際学会連合であるAlliance of Digital Humanities Organizations (ADHO)に入会して頂くことでございます。

At the AGM during JADH2012, the Japanese Association for Digital Humanities has changed its name to "日本デジタル・ヒューマニティーズ学会".
